Never Let Me Go

Well, it has been awhile.

In late December of last year, I summed up all the books I had read and it all came down to about 10 books. This doesn't seem much of a big deal, but compared to how much I used to read...This, I think, is pretty bad.

For this year, I have decided to double the number of books I read and actually finish what I started.

The first book that I had finished this year was “Never Let Me Go” by Kazuo Ishiguro. I got this book in the spring last year, but I never finished it. I don't see why I put this down. The book is just so beautiful and in some way...kind of terrifying. It made me think of how ephemeral everything is and how one day time would just erase everything I'm familiar with, specifically people I know and the relationships I have formed with them. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I have problems with change. But the idea of having to lose everything you know is sort of terrifying and sad. The book made me feel nostalgic for what I've already lost, which is why I cried after reading the book. Also, the story in general just made me cry. I will say no more. (Gosh dang it, Ishiguro! Why are you making me feel all these emotions?). I absolutely love this book. It's my favorite book out of everything I have read so far.
